Mark Emerton

March 21, 2011 by Murray Anderson-Wallace

Mark Emerton is an consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Senior Fellow at the NHS Institute for Innovation and

Improvement. He joined the NHS Institute in March 2006 as clinical lead for the focus on hip and knee replacements with the Delivering Quality and Value team. He went on to join their Safer Care team, on the faculty of the Leading Improvement in Patient Safety (LIPS) programme. He was also a member of the core team on the national Patient Safety First campaign, and clinical lead for the campaign’s perioperative intervention.

Mark has contributed to PATIENTSTORIES through detailed reflections on Beth’s Story and the questions the story raises for surgical safety.
